Change is disgusting and dangerous.
Disposing of nasty old change is just the right thing to do. Get rid of it.
Researchers have found hundreds of species of microorganisms living on money. These include species of bacteria that cause acne, MRSA, vaginal bacteria, oral microbes, mold, fecal matter, and viruses such as E. Coli and Salmonella among others. Statista.com’s Consumer Safety Report points out there are “...more than 850,000 accidental ingestions of everyday objects…recorded in the US between 2010-2019…” and that “Coins topped the list of accidental ingestions, with around 33,000 being recorded each year (more might go unreported.”. In 2019, Family Safety & Health reported on a study which found E.R visits related to kids swallowing coins and other small objects nearly doubled over two decades (data collected between 1995-2015 by the National Electronic Injury Surveillance System).
